Adam Sandler Supports Chris Rock Over Will Smith Says His Netflix Special Was as Exciting as Super Bowl
The 2022 Oscars will go down in history for the assault that happened on the stage between two stars, Will Smith and Chris Rock. When the Men in Black slapped Rock across the face in front of a live audience, everyone assumed it was a skit, but of course, it was not. The host of the night, Rock, made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s alopecia and it clearly did not go well with Smith. Rock chose to stay mum until his Netflix special dropped this year, where he leveled a series of jokes at the star. Many thought he went overboard, but Adam Sandler sure disagrees.
Adam Sandler was at the Kennedy Center to receive the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, where he shared his thoughts about Rock’s Selective Outrage. Sandler defended his friend, explaining that Chris Rock never went overboard with his jibes. Instead, he thought he did pretty amazing. In fact, Sandler greatly appreciated how Rock conducted the entire special in a relaxed manner. Furthermore, the 50 First Dates actor compared it to the Super Bowl. “I thought he was unbelievably relaxed, funny, thoughtful, and crushed it. Was real to himself, and it was as exciting to watch as when the Super Bowl was on,” he told People.

The comedy actor was actually waiting for the show to drop. He cozied himself in the kitchen and had apparently enjoyed every minute of the show. So much so that he immediately rewatched the roast.
During the show, Rock brought up their marriage. He poked fun at Jada’s illicit affair with her son’s friend Alsina. The comedian had very sarcastically remarked how he should direct his anger to his wife because Smith got cheated on. Although Rock gave some sick burns to the Hollywood legend, he did make a small mistake.

But while referring to this whole incident and to explain the name for his special, he mistakenly said Emancipation. However, as a pro, immediately realized his mistake, but kept the gag going without getting nervous.
