Adam McKay Tells How to Make a Comedy Film Like Don’t Look Up With Rules of Improv
Improv really is the best way to bring out the best of the writers and actors. It helps artists who are playing a certain role understand their character better and also allows them to find the middle ground between their own expectations and that of the writers, directors, and producers. While there might arise many problems and disagreements, improv can really help bring a piece of cinema a long way. We’ve seen examples of this before with popular shows like Sex Education. For those unfamiliar with the name- Adam McKay is an American filmmaker and comedian. McKay is one of the most critically acclaimed people in his field. Very few people have made a name for themselves in making comedies as much as McKay has.

The man began his career working with SNL in the 90s. He served as the head writer of the show for its initial two seasons, some of the best episodes of the show even after all this time. After about three decades of experience in the industry, he has released the film Don’t Look Up, featuring the likes of Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett and so many more. Yes, we do mean it when we say “so many more”. This movie’s entire casting is made up of legends and icons- some of the best actors and pop stars in the industry.

Don’t Look Up isn’t this filmmaker’s first extensive project, though. McKay is behind the creations of many other drama comedies. The titles in this list include the likes of The Big Short, featuring Steve Carell, Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, and Brad Pitt.
