Following this, not only the Fresh Prince resigned from the prestigious awards ceremony, but the critical team also banned him for a decade. Seemingly this year, they have become even more conscious, responsible, and probably quick.

The decision for Will Smith took almost a week to release. Notably, the Academy chief executive Bill Kramer informed Time Magazine that they have developed a new ‘crisis team’ to handle any real-time incident that might happen on the live telecast. They perhaps do not want to take any chance following the Will Smith-Chris Rock controversy. Kramer told they have had “run many scenarios” already and will be “prepared” for anything.

He also said if something happens, they will be comparatively quicker and would come up with a decision on the night of the ceremony itself. Furthermore, after the out-of-the-box nomination of British actress Andrea Riseborough for the best actress award after her short film To Leslie championed the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, and Edward Norton, the crisis team is already in action.
