Netflix Co-Founder Cautions Streamer About Password Sharing Crackdown: “It’s a continuum from one to the other”
Amidst all the things that are going on in the world right now, one of the biggest talking points is the new password sharing policy that Netflix is trying to start. There are a plethora of opinions that people have regarding this new policy. However, the ball is now entirely in the streaming giant’s court. But people sure have the chance to influence or make a nudge in the right direction.
While literally thousands of people have come forward with their opinions and ideas about Netflix password sharing, there is certainly someone whose opinion actually holds a lot of value. Netflix co-founder Marc Randolph has finally spoken up about this entire issue. And honestly, his ideas make a lot of sense.

Marc Randolph was the first-ever CEO of the streaming giant, from 1997 to 2003. In a recent interview with Yahoo Finance, he revealed that Netflix needs to be careful when they implement this new strategy regarding password sharing. “I don’t think anybody wants to make it difficult for people who have legitimate uses to share their password, share their password or use their password in multiple locations,” Randolph explained.

However, he also talked about how Netflix needs to control how people are sharing their passwords. As allowing egregious use of password sharing could very well lead to losses. It is no surprise that people share their passwords with their friends and families. We have seen multiple celebrities and even Netflix officials talk about that. In fact, about 30 million from US and Canada share their Netflix passwords with others.
But according to the Netflix co-founder, some of these users are “obviously wrong.” “It’s a continuum from one to the other —Netflix’s challenge is finding that middle point,” Randolph said. he insisted that people who legitimately want to share their passwords with friends and family should be allowed to do so.
