After the slapping incident with Will Smith at the Oscars 2022, there were a lot of questions about his career as an actor. However, with Emancipation, the actor came back with a bang. As people appreciated the actor’s performance, they also had concerns about the incident’s effect on the reimagined version of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The actor, Adrian Holmes, who portrays Philip Banks on Bel-Air, talked about whether the Oscar incident affected the show.
With the second season of Bel-Air premiered, Holmes talked about the loyal fanbase of the show shortly before the sophomore season dropped. The Oscar-winning actor is the producer of the show. Therefore, Holmes also addressed the incident and shared why it did not bother the show. Addressing the loyal fanbase of the show, he said they had created a lane for themselves. Thus, they were happy about the show getting the love of their fans instead of worrying about the incident.
Further, the Canadian actor added that by watching the show, the viewers didn’t just watch the show and get entertainment. They also learn something from it. To him, the most important thing was that he was a part of the positive narrative. It was what the world needed, and the show was just that, according to Holmes. Because we live in a sad and dark world that needs light. “I think our show is that light,” said Adrian Holmes to Deadline.

Because the Emancipation actor is an executive producer of the show, it is natural for him to have visited the set. However, Holmes said, Smith didn’t visit the set of the show’s filming of season 2. But Holmes is confident that there will more seasons in the future, during which he hopes to have Smith’s presence.
The Bel-Air actor’s confidence may seem premature, but it is not unfounded since the show has gotten wide recognition and fanbase like one of its executive producers.
Like Will Smith, Bel-Air also got recognition at the NAACP Image Awards
At the recent NAACP Image Awards, the 54-year-old actor got recognition for his performance in Emancipation. He won the award for Outstanding Actor in a motion picture. While the former Fresh Prince won the award for his performance, how can Bel-Air stay behind?
The show secured 3 nominations at the NAACP Image Awards 2023. The show was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, while Adrian Holmes got the nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. The lead actor and the new Fresh Prince also got nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series as well.
