If there is anything that Netflix’s Jeen-Yuhs proved, it is that few artists contemplate the substance of their music the way Kanye West does. From the first album the 46-year-old created to his last in 2022, Ye’s music has always reflected the reality of his true nature and inclinations, no matter how controversial. And creating such ingenious works from the heart takes time. Among the many time-consuming tracks the 24-time Grammy winner has produced, one that came out in 2016 just marked its 8th anniversary today.

The song in question appeared in his seventh studio album and also featured a 17-time Grammy winner.

Today, West’s fans are celebrating the anniversary of ‘No More Parties In LA’ while remembering the painstaking years of work he put into it. While it may be one of his less talked about tracks, it carried a thought-provoking commentary on social media, relationships, and the curse that comes with fame. It is believed that Ye and Kendrick Lamar spent 8-10 years working on this ‘Life of Pablo’ record’s score.

Last year, a behind-the-scenes image of West and Lamar working on the ‘Life of Pablo’ album resurfaced, leading fans to reminisce about the artists’ era of creating music together. Using samples of Walter Morrison, Johnny Watson, Larry Graham, and Ghostface Killah’s music, the visionaries of rap created a track rich in sound and meaningful verses. Even Kendall Jenner once deemed it her favorite track from this Def Jam album.

The same year ‘No More Parties In LA’ came out, West gave one of his iconic interviews in which he spoke about the aspect of time spent on a project.

In an extensive interview West gave to Surface Magazine in 2016, he addressed the time factor that goes into creating something he would associate his name with. Ye remarked that he hated people that showed off about working with him for a couple of weeks because creating something with him meant redoing “a project a hundred times. According to him, it takes time to “communicate” one’s thoughts perfectly.

He explained that as an artist, he always felt the need to “really word something in a specific way that resonates with him. So, only if somebody had worked with him for a long time would they be able to get the gist of this. This thought process resonates in many of his works, considering that the father of four has multiple albums and tracks he spent decades on.
