Kanye West once gave James Corden the best air-pool karaoke. The talk show host has had a good experience of holding some of the most hilarious and interesting celebrities through his carpooling episodes, but nothing quite like experiencing Ye’s lavish and larger-than-life work. While most carpooling episodes involved a car, the host went above and beyond the clouds as they spoke of work, religion, and more.

Now West does not always appear for interviews, but when he does, fans crave for him to open up or smile. Corden managed to make him do all that while watching a mesmerizing special performance. Here is a look into the 2019 episode of The Late Late Show. 

How Kanye West gave James Corden a 30,000 ft carpool

James Corden began one of the unique ways to host celebrities through carpooling since his takeover in 2015. But Kanye West, being a performer, gave a show like no other. The episode began with Corden needing a flight back to Los Angeles when West decided to give him a lift. But unlike normal aircraft, this one was filled with Ye’s choir group. They give a surprise mesmerizing performance. The nearly 20 minutes episode had him converse with the singer with the choir performing in intervals.

‘Back to Life’, ‘Jesus Walks’, ‘Souls Anchored’, and ‘Through the Wire’, were some of the many songs performed by the choir. Ye even described his marriage with Kim Kardashian as a journey. He expressed how God always had a plan for him, and wanted people to see more than just his downfall, failures, outbursts, or sadness. Back then, he also spoke about wanting to have as many kids as possible, although he ended up with four of them with Kim Kardashian.

It has been three years since the interview. A lot has changed for both Ye and Corden since then.

An update on Ye’s choir and James Corden’s The Late Late Show’s finale

James Corden’s The Late Late Show is ending after seven years of run now. The finale will be dropped on 27th April 2023 with Harry Styles and Will Ferrell appearing as guests. Adele joined the very last carpool karaoke session with the host, marking the end of an era for the host. Meanwhile, Ye remains underground and has remarried since then. He is not said to be active or on the best terms with his choir group anymore.
