Kid Cudi’s animated special on Netflix wooed the fans as soon as the first look reached us back at Netflix Geeked Week in 2022. With Spiderverse-esque animation and vibes, the fans loved Entergalactic. This adult animated music special was Cudi’s own creation, perfectly going hand-in-hand with his album of the same name. This romantic comedy-drama cum musical has the sound score from the American rapper’s ‘Entergalactic’ album itself. It released to much hype and turns out it was justified; for the special got a prestigious nomination.

Entergalactic making a hit on the screens meant attracting multiple awards. And that it definitely has, with great appreciation pouring in for this special. This story of two young artists finding love and navigating life in New York has been nominated for the Emmys. The 39-year-old rapper’s hard work and dedication really paid off with the Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Animated Program 2023.  

The rapper also took to Twitter to celebrate the Emmy Award nomination.

Notably, Entergalactic also climbed the third most searched on Netflix shortly after the announcement.

In a review by Variety, Entergalactic was told to be “frequently intoxicating” and that the musical numbers from Cudi’s album enhanced the visuals even more. And what compliments animated visuals and music even more? The star-studded voice-over cast. From Jaden Smith to Timothée Chalamet being a part of the cast, this 92-minute special is a treat to both eyes and ears.

But this isn’t the first time this Netflix special is getting an award. The album-based animated creation has multiple feathers in its cap.

This relatable romantic comedy that navigates real life’s twists and turns really hit a chord with the audience. It won the Outstanding Writing in a Television Movie or Special award at the 54th NAACP Image Awards in February 2023, while being nominated for the Outstanding Soundtrack award too. 

Apart from this, it has won the Groundbreaker Award at the Critics Choice Celebration of Black Cinema and Television in December 2022, and Original Song – TV Movie Streamed at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards in November 2022.
