If one happens to be aware of Kanye West‘s secretive school, Donda Academy, one might know that it faced a tumultuous year in 2022 and was on the verge of shutting down. However, contrary to expectations, the Academy managed to remain operational. Just like West and his penchant for controversies, the school is not far behind in stirring up its own share of trouble. While it may not have official accreditation, it still has an enrollment of over 80 students.

None of Kanye West’s children are enrolled in the Academy. Contrary to popular belief, the gospel school has already faced several lawsuits. Now, a new legal case has emerged, shedding light on West’s particular preferences that he implemented at the school.

Kanye West’s bizarre likings and school conditions

The allure of its association with a superstar rapper may incline parents to enroll their children in Ye’s school. However, the conditions do not necessarily align with this perception. As the Academy faces two ongoing lawsuits, a recent legal case brought forth by former gym teacher Isaiah Meadows sheds light on some of Ye’s peculiar preferences. Startlingly, there are grave concerns regarding safety and health. The consistent opening of windows and skylights is a result of Ye’s aversion to glass, as disclosed by Meadows. “A skylight was left without glass inevitably allowing rain to fall directly inside, where water would soak into the floor, which would lead to a moldy smell for the next few days.” Meadows confirmed as per Billboard.

In addition to the aforementioned concerns, there are further safety issues prevalent. A fire broke out due to poor electric wiring and the fault occurred near the student area. Moreover, the hygiene conditions have significantly deteriorated. Septic tanks consistently overflow, resulting in an unbearable stench permeating the premises. The legal allegations put in claims of the Academy not abiding by the labor rules and safety guidelines.

Two other school teachers previously raised allegations against the Academy, leading to previous controversies and making this lawsuit not the first to be leveled against it.

The Donda Academy: lawsuits and allegations

Previous lawsuits brought forth by two employees revealed a recurring issue. Although Kanye West’s lawyers turned down the dystopian allegations. In addition to inadequate pay, the teachers suffered from racial discrimination. The school permitted the students, on the other hand, to consume only a single meal, specifically sushi. That too without the use of utensils and while sitting on the floor. West’s dislike for stairs led to the forbidding of students from accessing the second floor, revealing another unusual preference of Ye’s.

Adding to the eccentricity, West imposed restrictions on a range of items. It includes crossword puzzles, chairs, jewelry, as well as Nike and Adidas products. The Academy mandated that students wear exclusively black attire and prohibited them from bringing outside food. The situation presents a distressing plight indeed.
