Kanye West and Kid Cudi’s Smash Hit Breaks Into 800 Million Club on Spotify
The world got a taste of ‘genius’ when Kanye West dropped his much anticipated seventh studio album, ‘The Life of Pablo’, in 2016. The certified double-platinum album received widespread acclaim and earned five Grammy award nominations, confirming its place among the most critically acclaimed releases of 2016. This added another feather to the ‘Donda’ singer-songwriter’s cap, who continued his track record of delivering entertaining and cohesive music. The album featured many of West’s old collaborators and had 19 songs in total. Even after seven years, this album continues to be a masterpiece.
After considering titles such as So Help Me God, SWISH, and Waves, the Chicago-based singer finally settled on ‘The Life of Pablo’. However, what is grabbing attention is not the entire album, but a specific song from it that continues to break Spotify charts.

The hip-hop scenario has gone through a tremendous change under Kanye West. As recently revealed on X (formerly Twitter), the track ‘Father Stretch My Hands pt 1’ by Kanye West in collaboration with Kid Cudi has crossed 800M streams on Spotify, marking West’s 7th song to reach this milestone. The song served as the second track on the Life of Pablo album. ‘Pt.1′ by the Kids See Ghosts duo was considered to be one of the biggest hits, specifically from ‘The Life of Pablo’. The album had other high-profile singers in attendance as well.
The album was painted like a canvas and featured guest appearances by Kanye West’s long-time collaborators, such as Chance the Rapper, Desiigner, Rihanna, The Weeknd, Ty Dolla Sign, Post Malone, Kendrick Lamar, Sia, Vic Mensa, Chris Brown, and Young. The collaboration between West and Cudi goes back a long time. To date, they have collaborated on 21 tracks. Most of which have been highly successful. However, this was short-lived when they had a very public fallout.
The entire fiasco started when Cudi left GOOD. Music in 2013. Which made the fans wonder what could have gone wrong between the rappers.

The longtime friends and collaborators ended at a crossroad when Cudi was removed from West’s 11th studio album ‘Donda 2’ because of his friendship with ‘Saturday Night Live’ star Pete Davidson. West had issues with Davidson, who was in a relationship with Kim Kardashian after she ended her marriage with the rapper. After removing Cudi from the album, he went on to post several anti-Cudi messages on his social media platforms. Responding to this, Cudi said in his interview with Esquire that he has “zero tolerance for the wrong energies.”
Cudi further rejected the claim that the Chicago-based singer is responsible for his career. He has been friends with Davidson since 2014. The comedian credited Cudi’s 2009 album, ‘Man on the Moon: The End of Day’ for pushing him through dark times.
