Apparently, this song that was hidden was only uploaded by the DJ in recent years. This was the time when both colorful hip-hop and slasher movies were trending. Their rare combination gave birth to two competing songs, leading one of them to be tucked away. Here is a tale of two songs and how Smith got sued over it.

The 1980-1990s was the time Will Smith began rising to prominence. But during his rapping years, one song made so much buzz, it got him sued and had to be removed. In a recent RAOPODCAST podcast, the hosts revealed the story behind the song. With the 1984 movie, A Nightmare on Elm Street becoming a hit, the Fat Boys group released a 1988 song based on the movie called ‘Are you ready for Freddie’. But they had the permission of New Line Cinema to make the song.

Will Smith also decided to release his own song on the theme called ‘A Nightmare on My Street.’ “And it actually made more noise than the Fat Boy song, ” explained the host. It also had the Freddie Kruger character appearing in the video. New Line Cinema sued him and DJ Jazzy Jeff over it and eventually the video was pulled out from every single place.
