The Weeknd Garners Major Outrage for His Role as Writer in Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan’s Movie After ‘The Idol’
It has been months since fans first heard that The Weeknd and Jenna Ortega are coming together for a mysterious project. All the details were kept under wraps, leaving them to wonder what it can be. Amidst this arrived the highly anticipated project of the singer, The Idol. Sadly, the HBO series helmed by Sam Levinson turned out exactly the opposite of what everyone expected.
The show only garnered intense backlash for graphic nudity and sexually explicit scenes. Now when the Grammy winner is ready to work on a new project as a writer, people are not happy about it. The news has set the internet ablaze once again.
Pop Tingz recently rolled out a tweet regarding the upcoming movie of Trey Edward Shults. The post revealed that the Canadian rapper will co-write the film with him. This unnamed project will star the overnight star of Netflix’s new phenomena Wednesday and The Eternals‘ actor Barry Keoghan.

Besides giving a helping hand in the writers’ room, Abel Tesfaye will also take a role in the movie. This would be his first major role on the big screen after his debut on HBO. Moreover, the scream queen is also part of the production team considering she already has taken a seat in Tim Burton’s season 2 of the horror comedy.
The creators are still lip tied about the plotline of this film and one could only hope that this would be good, unlike the last project of the 33-year-old. However, fans are not convinced that bringing the ‘Blinding Lights’ singer on board is a good idea. Netizens are skeptical of him exploring the entertainment industry when his show is already a failure.
Fans do not wish to watch the musical genius on the silver screen
Seeing this tweet, many fans jumped into the comment section to express their views about his new endeavors. They are not ready to watch him failing to cope with the shock that his drama gave them. Many are saying that he should stick to the music industry where he does excellent work. While others are saying that the movie is already destroyed since he is contributing to it.
Fans also questioned that did Abel not read the reviews for The Idol before co-writing a movie yet again and wrote things like “oh god no.”
