“Mothers is Mothering”- Michelle Yeoh and Cate Blanchett Share a Moment at the 2023 Film Indie Awards, But Fans See a “Vision”
Michelle Yeoh and Cate Blanchett are perhaps the two women who have portrayed out-of-the-box characters and have been rather successful at it. Their recent movie Everything Everywhere All at Once is a testament to this fact. After the SAG awards, the movie once again dominated another awards show, the 39th annual Film Independent Spirit Awards swooping a total of 7 accolades. But what dominated fan hearts was Yeoh and Blanchett’s moment on the red carpet.
This year’s Spirit Awards notably brought out a plethora of smiles, laughter, and tears from the winners, presenters, hosts, and even the audience. And among many, Yeoh and Blanchett filled their red carpet entry with love and hugs. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Blanchett, who was wearing a spectacular black co-ord set hugged Yeoh from behind for pictures. Furthermore, as she was leaving, the Malaysian actress followed and gave her a tight hug.

The Crazy Rich Asians actress, who took home the award for the best performance, the top leading actress, also triumphed last week at the SAG awards over the top rival Blanchett and might as well become the first Asian woman to win the Academy Awards for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Notably, while the two women were rivals at SAG, at the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards they showed deep affection towards each other.
As soon as fans caught up with the tweet, they tapped in to provide their two cents and send all their love to the two actresses.
