After the SAG awards, the movie once again dominated another awards show, the 39th annual Film Independent Spirit Awards swooping a total of 7 accolades. The Crazy Rich Asians actress, who took home the award for the best performance, the top leading actress, also triumphed last week at the SAG awards over the top rival Blanchett and might as well become the first Asian woman to win the Academy Awards for her performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once. Notably, while the two women were rivals at SAG, at the 2023 Film Independent Spirit Awards they showed deep affection towards each other.
