The second season of Sweet Magnolias was all about dramatic twists and turns. But the biggest bomb dropped was the revelation of Issac’s biological parents. Although most of the fans predicted who would be his mother, you may still be in doubt about how did he find it out.
At the end of season 1, Issac confronted Dana Sue about his intentions in the kitchen of Sullivan’s. Well, there was a hidden agenda behind this as well! He wanted to know if Dana Sue was his real mother. Turns out, she is not. Desolate but determined, Issac sought Helen’s help to find out the truth.
Although his adoption records were sealed, a bible left behind by his mother served as a major clue. Hoping to find some major shreds of evidence, the pair headed to the Serenity Sentinel Offices. Seems like the editor of the paper was all they were looking for. Peggy Martin’s iconic reaction in Season 2 of Sweet Magnolias simply explained she is Issac’s mother.
Having explained this, the next obvious question you might have about Peggy Martin of Sweet Magnolias is a big WHY!

Seems like it’s not the Greek gods in Peggy and Issac’s case; It’s Issac’s own grandmother. Notably, in a conversation with her stern mother, Peggy reveals how giving up Issac was not her sole choice. Apparently, when she got pregnant with Issac at the age of 16, her mother and her so-called mother-in-law wanted to get rid of the baby as quietly as possible. You see, they had a reputation to maintain. “I did what any good mother would,” Winell tells her daughter.
Although Issac and Peggy may reunite and we see exactly what we are hoping for, in the supposed season 3; expecting Winell to change would just be a waste of time. As she further says to her daughter, ‘I didn’t go through all that mess you brought home 22 years ago to have some stranger upend our lives now.” ordering Peggy to send him back, she adds, “I have no interest in meeting him.”
