Stranger Things has left us in a cliff-hanging situation where Eleven’s father figure, Hopper, is dead and Max’s evil brother, Billy, is no more. But now, we are pretty confident that Hopper will be back in Season 4 and Max is apparently gaining some supernatural powers.

In the new trailer, we saw Max floating in the air, in front of Billy’s grave. By which we can surely assume, this teenager has gained some supernatural powers. As Eleven lost her powers and moved with Byers to California, Max gaining powers will give Stranger Things season 4, a darker side.

In the trailer, we get a glimpse of season 4, where Max is sitting alone in front of the grave, and reading a letter that she wrote to him after he died. We know that they might not have a great sibling relationship like other characters from Stranger Things, but she surely misses her brother. To support her, Steve, Dustin, and Lucas also visit the grave with her. Little did they know, Max will levitate in the air, hinting Mind Flayer might be back.

But what might be the explanation behind Max’s supernatural power?

After the death of Billy, Max often visits the grave, where she might stumble across Upside Down locations like  grandfather clock identical to Creel House’s on her own. Those locations can be portals to travel upside down, which led to some reaction and grant her supernatural powers. Or we can assume, just like her brother, Mind Flayer is controlling Max’s mind and her body.

Another explanation might be possible that Max is the new Eleven in Stranger Things, with powers who save the entire gang from upside-down monsters. But in the trailer, we only saw her levitating around the grave, which might be possible that Billy is possessing her from beyond the grave.

Eleven has extreme supernatural powers, but she never had the ability to self-levitate. She always used her powers to fly other objects. If this is a new power for Max, she can fly herself. She could even outweigh Eleven as well.

But, we are sure that her powers might relate to Billy from beyond the grave or Mind Flayer from Upside down, and we can expect to see a fight between Eleven and Max.
