2021 was an interesting year for cinema. The year proved that no matter what adversity hits the world, we will always tell stories, even in the darkest times. One of the most compelling stories from last year has to be CODA. The film is even in talks to bag the Best Picture Oscar later this week. What is CODA about?

CODA is an adaptation of the 2014 French film La Famille Bélier about Ruby Rossi, a kid of deaf parents who tries to follow her dream of becoming a singer while still supporting her family’s fishing business.

The film has already made history, with star Troy Kotsur being the first deaf actor to win a BAFTA in a major category, and it will be looking for even more success this weekend at the Oscars.

After a strong win at the PGA Awards, Sian Heder’s drama CODA has emerged as a prominent factor in the awards race, with some commentators even picking it to win Best Picture.

The movie is a must-watch for all as it has probably the best acting cast of the year.

Is CODA on Netflix? Where to watch CODA online?

Following its successful premiere at the Sundance Picture Festival in 2021, Apple swiftly purchased the distribution rights for a festival record of $25 million last year. It has since been marketed as an Apple original film. The movie was added to the streaming site on Friday, the 13th of August. 

So to stream the film, you will need to have an Apple tv plus subscription.

Unfortunately, we have bad news for those who do not have an Apple subscription. CODA is not available on Netflix and will not be till the foreseeable future.

However, the film’s Oscar triumph may lead to some big-screen screenings around the country at some point in the future. But nothing has been confirmed at this time.
