But Netflix has been working efficiently and delivering in every way. It recently released The Weekend Away, a thriller starring our very own Leighton Meester. Directed by Kim Farrant, The Weekend Away follows two best friends, Beth Jenner and Kate Thompson. They travel from London to Croatia for a weekend getaway and spend time together. When Kate vanishes in the middle of the holiday, Beth is astounded. She tries to find her friend in foreign lands and gets to know some life-changing revelations.
Does Leighton Meester prefer thrillers to rom-coms?
Although she prefers rom-coms because she enjoys watching light fare, she stated that “When I’m looking for something by myself, I will watch murder.” She has appeared in several romantic comedies herself, including Monte Carlo, Date Night, and the recent sequel spinoff of How I Met Your Mother, How I Met Your Father, to name a few. She has been in the industry since 1999.
The coolest things fans have ever done for the actor
Leighton Meester has several fans who have gone to great lengths to catch her attention or express their affection. And Leighton has always appreciated that, but sometimes fans did something special for her, such as giving her a lunchbox with her pictures on it. She also appreciates that fans, “watching stuff that I’ve done as I’ve gotten older as my tastes have changed, coming to see my music shows.”
Leighton Meester travelled to Croatia for the first time to film The Weekend Away
Leighton Meester had never visited Croatia before filming The Weekend Away. She said, “I am now trying to like, work my whole life around going back there. I loved it so much.” There aren’t many films shot in Croatia.
