“Worth it”- Rob McElhenney Echoes From Emmy Awards Amid Ryan Reynolds’ Absence at Wrexham’s Success
Ryan Reynolds, the king of wit, might have been a no-show at the 2024 Emmy Awards, but his pal, Rob McElhenney stepped in to ensure the event stayed hilarious. The 46-year-old actor shared a hilarious selfie, snapped by his wife Kaitlin Olson, featuring the couple in the audience at the 75th Emmy Awards. However, McElhenney’s focus seemed more on the Philadelphia Eagles’ playoff match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers than the awards, as evidenced by the post’s encouraging hashtags for the team.

The actor, in the absence of Reynolds, took home the Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program award for Welcome To Wrexham. He captioned his post saying, “Worth it I guess Up the town“. Rob McElhenney, a die-hard Eagles enthusiast, also took the stage to present an award at Monday night’s Emmy Awards ceremony. Interestingly, the timing clashed with the Birds’ playoff game against Tampa Bay.
McElhenney, however, determined not to miss a moment of his favorite team’s quest for a Super Bowl run, cleverly found a way to both catch the game and attend the awards ceremony. Little did he know, attending the Emmys might have paid off handsomely, with Welcome To Wrexham snagging five Creative Arts Emmy Awards. McElhenney’s not caring much about the awards comes after he and Ryan Reynolds got recognized earlier this month at the Creative Arts Emmys for Welcome to Wrexham.
The series, vying for six awards, walked away with five victories. To celebrate this milestone, the dynamic duo posted a hilarious Instagram video, playfully nodding to Deadpool and Blake Lively.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney shared an Instagram video in which the former dressed as Deadpool, holding Hugh Jackman’s broken Emmy, dubbed himself “Mr. Lively“. He thanked FX and Disney, assuring them he would handle the Deadpool franchise with care. The actor then went on to nudge the Oscars to consider their documentary.
Welcome to Wrexham came out on top against Vanderpump Rules at the Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday, snagging the award for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program. Additionally, the FX series earned recognition for Outstanding Picture Editing, Outstanding Directing, Outstanding Sound Mixing, and Outstanding Cinematography in the Reality Program category. Now, with another Emmy win, it is clear that Welcome to Wrexham has really struck a chord with everyone.
