Wolverine Co-Creator Has A Specific Thing to Say About Hugh Jackman’s Comic Accurate Costume in Ryan Reynolds Deadpool 3
After weeks of anticipation and eager fans waiting for Wolverine’s costume, the first look of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman has been accurate to the comics. Fans were anticipating the redemption of Wolverine’s costume and the makers had to make the most of this one shot at costume justice for the X-Men hero. The mutant had never sported the classic comics costume before this. And understandably, everybody was beaming with eagerness.
And not just the fans, but the co-creator of Wolverine and the widow of co-creator Len Wein, also chimed in in the excitement. The years of hardwood at co-creating the character of Wolverine finally saw its true form on the screen.
What does Wolverine’s co-creator have to say about the costume?

Roy Thomas was the first successor of Stan Lee and editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics. Despite Thomas being the editor, he advised Len Wein to create a character that the Canadian audience could relate to. The elation when the late writer Len Wein’s partner Christine Valada and editor Thomas will see the character take the exact form on a screen. A report by CBR talked about how Thomas had said, “It’d be nice seeing something like Romita’s original costume on screen.“
Just a couple of days ago, we saw the first look of the duo, sporting their classic comic suits. After the pictures came out, Christine Valada also reminisced, hoping that Len Wein, John Romita, Sr., and Herb Trimpe were there to see their character wear the yellow spandex on screen. She took to Twitter and shared the picture of the Merc with a Mouth and Logan on set.
While there have been references for the fans about the blue and yellow costume, the fans didn’t exactly catch the memo earlier.
Did Wolverine don the classic costume before?
In all the Wolverine movies we have seen on screen, Logan usually dons a black leather jacket or regular clothes. But that doesn’t mean there hasn’t ever been a reference to the yellow-blue costume. There is this one particular scene in the 2000’s X-Men where Wolverine sarcastically comments on the costumes of the X-Men before heading into battle and the Cyclops comments back saying if Jackman (in the movie) would rather prefer yellow spandex.

Despite this, fans did not really catch the intended sarcasm. It was aimed to be a reassurance from the producers that their wishes for the classic comic book attire were being heard. And finally, all the prayers and wishes have been answered.
