Some movies leave the fans guessing till the very end. Fitting the bill is Will Smith’s I Am Legend. Released back in 2007, the film was one of the most talked about movies of its time. Apart from Smith’s incredible performance, I Am Legend left the fans with unanswered questions and queries. Not long ago, the Men In Black star sparked excitement among the fans as he announced the release of his much-anticipated project I Am Legend 2. As we all know the first installment of the film gave the audience two different endings, none of them providing a proper answer.

Robert Neville’s cure: Did it really work?

Throughout the entire film, we saw how Robert Neville worked tirelessly to find a cure to save the world from the Krippin virus and help the dark seekers be human again. He finally reaches close to his mission when a dark seeker ends up in his home. The film’s original ending showed how Nevill sacrifices himself for the sake of humanity.

However, the upcoming sequel will follow the alternate ending based on the novel by Richard Matheson, where Robert Neville realizes that the zombie like creatures have human tendencies such as emotion and rationality. This changes the entire dynamic and the sequel could tie up a few loose ends. It also opens up a new query for the fans to ponder upon.

Meanwhile, in the alternate ending, Neville discovers how the dark seekers do not want to be saved as Neville’s experiment had resulted in deaths of those close to him. Owing to that, Nevill leaves his research only to move to Vermont as a changed man. However, will Neville quit after coming this far? Moreover, abandoning his research now does not sit right.

So that is what the fans are curious to know more about. Does Neville leave his cure or midway or does he pursue it? This is one answer the sequel could offer.

Intelligence is perhaps one of the most intriguing aspects of the dark seekers from I Am Legend. The ending left the fans in doubt about how intelligent the dark seekers actually are. It hinted towards the fact that there is much more to dark seekers than what the film explored. I Am Legend 2 could surely introduce us to what the dark seekers are actually capable of.
