From the soulful rhythms of his Grammy-winning music to the magnetic performances that earned him an Academy Award, Jamie Foxx is a truly talented virtuoso of versatility. In 2001, Will Smith and the Django Unchained actor joined forces as the headlining cast in the blockbuster biopic, Ali. Not only did the movie earn Smith an Academy Award nomination, but also brought him close to the Day Shift actor. Ever since the two maestros of cinema have formed a close bond. 

Giving a glimpse of their bond, Smith shared a clip today to mark Foxx’s special day.

As Foxx reins in his 56th year, Will Smith took the occasion to share an old clip of them on his social media alongside a heartfelt wish. In the Instagram video, the Ray actor was relaying some rib-tickling anecdotes of time spent with Smith. He jokingly confessed to feeling like Smith’s assistant in the first half and a story from their African adventures in the second. 

Meanwhile, the King Richard actor failed to contain his laughter at Foxx’s impeccable anecdote delivery. The light-hearted banter shared between the two painted a picture of their heartwarming bond in the short video. In the caption, Smith called Foxx a brother and sent him “love & light” on the special occasion. 

The bond between these two Academy Award-winning legends has certainly stood the test of time.

Besides the endearing show of camaraderie seen in Will Smith’s Instagram share, he and Foxx have walked a long journey together. Since both men are known to deliver stellar blockbusters that speak to the African-American community’s struggles, they often support each other in their endeavors. In fact, before Smith premiered Emancipation, Foxx was among the few whom he had chosen for an initial screening. 

More recently, when Foxx shared the suffering he had endured due to certain health complications, Smith was among the first to comfort him in the comments. He confessed to having teared up after hearing the 56-year-old’s saddening tale. Clearly, the Ali co-stars hold each other in high regard. Considering that both of them began their Hollywood journeys as singers and then graduated to acting, they certainly have plenty in common.
