Earlier this year, the world got to look at The Avengers’ Anthony Mackie in a new series. The actor joined hands with Sony to bring to life a post-apocalyptic action comedy. However, the series seemed to have quality jokes and an intriguing enough storyline. Fans all over the world who watched it thought that the 45-year-old was channeling his inner Will Smith in the role.

While they all might have agreed on that, here is why they saw the Bad Boys actor in the role. From his humor to the deliverance of certain lines, these are the reasons Mackie’s performance reminded people of Smith.

Back in July, Sony came out with their Twisted Metal series. The series told the story of a dystopian future where a milkman lost his memory and ended up setting off on a quest. While the storyline quickly gained attention, the show’s viewers could not help but notice many similarities between the star’s performance and The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air star, Will Smith. A post on Reddit even claimed that the star was “channeling Will Smith hardcore.”

From the comedic lines in the film to the way Mackie delivered them, fans were constantly reminded of the Men In Black actor. Some social media users ended up claiming that they believed the role could have been written for the megastar himself. However, there have been no responses to back that discussion up.

While not everyone agreed on which version of the King Richard actor The Falcon star was trying to embody, most of the social media world agreed that he was trying to be the 55-year-old father of three.

Once the series, Twisted Metal, ended up airing, everyone who tuned in to watch it decided to share their opinions about it online. Most of the reviews for the show ended up being good. However, many fans took to Reddit to discuss whether others thought Anthony Mackie was “channeling Will Smith” in it. Although almost all users did see it, some of them saw him embodying different versions of the actor.

A couple of other users saw Mackie acting like Smith’s character from his “Fresh Prince/Men in Black era.” There were also a few that compared him to “the agent from Spies In Disguise, who was played by the iconic actor.” Some fans could see him embodying the actor’s character from “Independence Day.” However, some other fans of the actor came forward to defend Anthony Mackie’s performance in the Twisted Metal series by saying that they were “enjoying his performance.”
