As multiple projects come to a halt, Sydney Sweeney gets lucky again. According to Variety, her Marvel movie Madame Web will release on Valentine’s Day instead of 16th February. This movie would be her debut in the Marvel world, starring alongside Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson. So far, the plot has been kept under wraps. However, what we do know is she will be playing the second Spiderwoman, Julia Carpenter.
Marvel will explore the spider verse through this movie, as it tests the potential of dozens of its characters. Actresses Isabela Merced and Celeste O’Connor will also join the cast for playing the same character from alternative universes. There have been speculations of the movie being connected to Peter Parker or Spiderman’s story, with no confirmation. This will certainly not be the first Spider-Man spin-off, but focusing on its female characters could bring more variety to Marvel.
This movie may have gotten lucky but many others face an unknown future as of now.

Sony Pictures may have got good news for Madame Web, but its other films are set to suffer from the strike. Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson is pushed ahead by a year with a new release for August 2024. Matters are worse for projects like Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, with no set date till the strike is over.
Even Sydney starter Euphoria green-lit for season 3 was slated for 2025, but the strike may affect it if it does not end soon. She was last seen shooting for a song video after wrapping up her Australian shoot for Anyone but You. Through the testing times, actors are maintaining unity with the SAG-AFTRA strike and its objectives.
