When Hugh Jackman Was Reluctant to Star in ‘Deadpool 3’, Ryan Reynolds Had to Drag the Wolverine
The Merc with a Mouth is famous for his shenanigans on-screen. We know Deadpool’s Wade Wilson as somebody who cusses, cracks offensive jokes, and is laced with humor. Ryan Reynolds actor will star in the R-rated movie Deadpool 3, which is scheduled for release in theaters next year. And with the most exciting feature being its Wolverine debut, fans cannot hold their excitement any longer. Benevolent (or not) set leaks showing off Wolverine’s stunning comic book-accurate costume alongside Deadpool’s caused an even bigger stir.
Following that, there was other news claiming the possibility of Wolverine’s classic blue-finned mask making a return. Contrary to all the hubbub, Wolverine’s Hugh Jackman was rather reluctant to join the movie. He had to be dragged by the Free Guy actor to join the film.

It is not surprising that Reynolds had amazing on-screen chemistry with his characters and their counterparts. His sarcasm and upbeat personality translated into another incident. It was all revealed in the Logan actor’s birthday message to the Red Notice actor. Jackman appeared on May 13, 2018’s GMA Hot List, where he sent The Proposal actor a video message. He wore a blue suit, looked into the camera, and said, “I love Deadpool. I can’t wait to see the movie. You’re one of my best friends. Blake, the fam, the whole thing.”
One would think it was an innocent, sweet message until then. But he continued, “But…back it up a little. It’s just…play a little hard to get. It’s too much. It’s not sexy. Am I right? It’s not. Sorry about that.” It is hilarious how the now-awaited duo already shared their comedic chemistry back then. On the other hand, it will be worth the wait to see how Wolverine’s serious persona will gel with Deadpool’s opposite.

Reynolds had a quick reply to the birthday message. The Green Lantern actor joked, “He insists on singing and dancing brilliantly elsewhere so I don’t know. I’m going to have to step up my game a little and post his cell phone number online.” Fast forward to 2021, Reynolds sent a birthday message to his co-actor Jackman on TikTok. He wore bright blue socks with Jackman’s face on it.
The Wolverine actor in fact later confirmed to fans on Instagram that the socks were not available for sale. He had a very visible sarcastic face on, confirming the origin of the socks, saying, “He made them himself, he donned them himself, I know it’s just really sad.”
