In November 2020, a wild proposal came crashing through the gates of Wrexham AFC management. The Hollywood duo of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney decided to splurge over $2.5 million to take ownership of the Red Dragons and even spend an additional $2.6 million on infrastructure upgrades. After two years of a landslide victory in the polls and taking over the controls, the two have turned the English football team into a sporting powerhouse that has received widespread acclaim and attention and still shows no signs of settling down anytime soon.

Amid such an enthusiastic outlook, how far can the Welsh team actually progress remains a question and 2024 may likely hold some answers.

The calendar session of 2023-24 worked wonders for Wrexham AFC, as they won an automatic promotion to the next upper tier of the EFL after fifteen long years. Come 2024, the club lies on the verge of a similar breakthrough. Currently, they stand just below Stockport in Football League Two with 46 points. The top three teams receive an automatic promotion and the Red Dragons stand on a good footing to clinch that glory again.

The team has a good chance of making it to the English Premier League as early as 2026 or 2027. The wild projection may come true if they stick to their prowess and secure promotions from League Two, League One, and the Championship. Meanwhile, the team’s current form has the likes of former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke planning to jump ships to Wrexham.
