Tom Holland Continues the Explicit Spiderman Tradition in ‘The Crowded Room’
The versatility of Tom Holland has caught the attention of film critics and fans alike. From his role as Spiderman to the recent success of the miniseries The Crowded Room, he has played some very interesting roles. In his recent show, Holland portrays a real-life criminal. The murder mystery and the psychological drama which aired on June 9 has caused a stir since. And the recent episode has garnered some heat and attention on the internet. And to your surprise, it is because of this connection to Spiderman.
Holland’s character saw a major character development in episode 8. While that was a shocker for the fans of the show, the fact that he carried the Spiderman legacy forward by stepping in the shoes of his other Spiderman counterparts is what caught everyone’s attention.

Episode 8 of the show took the internet by storm because of Holand’s new character development. Playing the role of Danny Sullivan, he is the subject of the murder investigation in the backdrop of a traumatic series of events. And as the story unfolded, the revelation of Danny as a gay character in an explicit scene came as a surprise to many fans.
The new episode of the show had many revelations and one of them involved Holland featuring in an explicit scene with Elijah Jones at a club. With the song ‘Rush’ playing in the background, Holland’s Danny enters the club, where orders a drink and starts dancing sensually with Jones’ character. All the tension takes the duo to a washroom where the-now viral scene takes place.
Needless to say, the new revelation of his sexuality, has caused a stir from the netizens, who were quick to draw similarities with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Notably, both Spiderman actors have dabbled in homosexual relations in movies.
McGuire starred in Wonder Boys alongside Robert Downey Jr. and played the role of gay lovers, sharing an intimate scene on screen. Meanwhile, the younger Spiderman, Andrew Garfield, starred in Angels in America, playing the role of a gay man with AIDS struggling through the 1980s. And a few years later, the youngest Spiderman of the three followed in similar footsteps.
This character hasn’t been an easy feat for Holland, however. He reportedly found it difficult to get out of character and target getting rid of the thoughts.
A break from acting to focus on mental health

In an interview with Extra TV, Holland opened up about his “tough time” with the role in The Crowded Room. The character’s role shattered him and subjected him to unfamiliar emotions. The miniseries is based on the true story of Billy Mulligan, the first person to be found not guilty solely due to his dissociative identity disorder.
Instead of being sentenced to prison for his heinous crimes, Billy Mulligan got sent to a psychiatric hospital. Holland, who played this complicated character, has decided to take a year off and focus on his mental health.
