Running for over 10 seasons, Friends captivated a multitude of viewers with its captivating storyline. The show became a sensation with many memorable episodes, thanks to Joey’s legendary pizza and Phoebe’s delightful humor. It successfully cultivated a vast and dedicated fan base who found pure joy in following the lives of the six New Yorkers and their incredible chemistry.
One aspect that captivated viewers was the inclusion of surprising but much-loved cameos. Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis are examples. However, one particular cameo that initially seemed impressive ended up being a complete nightmare for the producer.

Friends undoubtedly thrived on its humor, which greatly contributed to its success. The producer cleverly utilized the star-studded cast and cameos to their advantage. However, one of the most highly-watched episodes, titled The One After the Superbowl, boasted Jean-Claude Van Damme. Unfortunately, the inclusion of Van Damme did not yield favorable results. Filming with him wasn’t always a joyful experience filled with water balloon fights. He consistently ignored the advice and managed to irritate the entire cast.
Working with Jean-Claude Van Damme proved to be quite challenging. He created an uncomfortable atmosphere for his co-actors, Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox, during a kissing scene. According to Matt LeBlanc, the script itself was so compelling that even subpar actors were able to deliver remarkable performances. As per The Things, Van Damme said, “First, I memorize lines. Then you give me the feeling”.
Jean-Claude Van Damme wasn’t the only one causing issues, however. Jennifer Aniston has another revealing story to share.
Another cameo appearance that did not sit right
During a candid conversation, Jennifer Aniston revealed an incident involving Steven Fisher. He arrogantly considered himself a bigger star and felt that appearing in a sitcom was beneath him. However, he eventually apologized to Aniston for his behavior.

While many talented actors felt the pressure of being cast in such a highly acclaimed show—Jennifer Coolidge and Kristin Davis have admitted this fact. Friends also encountered its fair share of non-serious and subpar performers. However, the co-stars assert that the exceptional script elevated these episodes and made them worthwhile.
It is perhaps why, despite Netflix not airing it, the Friends reunion episode was much-awaited not just by the fans but also the actors.
