Ever since, the cast, as well as the rumors surrounding it, has only grown exponentially. Days after reports of Taylor Swift joining the Marvel extravaganza, as a musical mutant Dazzler, director Shawn Levy, finally opened up on it. Speaking to The Wrap, Levy said that fans would be “going to have to wait and see.” Although, he did admit the rumors, “They sure are loud.”

Well aware of the repercussions his announcement might have, the Free Guy director reiterated that he was “no dummy”. Taking a safe distance, he concluded with “‘No comment’ because that’s a double whammy. That’s Taylor-related. And it’s MCU-related.” Regardless, the Swift rumors, if true, would have the pop diva bring on her musical flair while converting sound to light and energy beams. Moreover, the singer’s appearance alongside the movie’s leads has only seemed to hype up fans’ expectations of the same.

Anticipation and hope around the movie only seem to be growing louder as it inches closer to its release. Yet, will the studio be able to keep its date?

The SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes had put a halt on Deadpool 3’s filming midway. However, the latest news might be even more concerning. Reports emerged that the mega-crossover event is looking to scrap one of its anticipated storylines. Furthermore, whether it was always the plan or a knee-jerk reaction to the delays, is unknown. Whatever, maybe the case, reshoots are a certain probability. Thus, considering the movie has an expected release date of May 3, 2024, Marvel Studios might find it hard to keep its promise.

Levy himself opened up on potentially outrunning the release date. Add to it, the ever-burgeoning cast and the MCU’s recent complaints of botched VFX, and fans are all but anxious. Deadpool 3 is not only a landmark moment in comic book history but also a direct tie-up for the next two Avengers movies. Thus, with every step that Marvel would now take, it has to make sure it is in the right direction.
