In an interview with SiriusXM in 2021, Ryan Reynolds dropped a surprising revelation about his partner of almost 12 years, Blake Lively. While promoting his sci-fi comedy Free Guy, Reynolds talked about her invaluable support behind the scenes of his films. The Canadian actor praised Lively for her role in the success of his projects, especially Deadpool 2. Her “multi-hyphenate” personality helped his writing, with the actor confessing that some of his most exceptional work was actually a result of her ideas. 

The Adam Project actor openly spoke about Lively’s involvement, revealing how she would actively contribute by offering brilliant suggestions that would leave him in awe. He emphasized that her contributions were not limited to a single film but extended to various successful projects throughout their career. 

Despite his efforts to ensure the 35-year-old actress’ recognition by informing directors and producers of her indispensable contributions, the credit consistently landed solely on him. The actor cum businessman expressed frustration at the prevailing sexism that did not give the mother-of-four proper credit for her involvement. 

Reynolds candidly addressed this issue, saying, “There’s inherent sexism” and shedding light on what he believes to be an underlying problem in the industry.

Elizabeth Banks also shared about the “bizarre” sexism that exists in Hollywood. In an interview with Variety, she said how Hollywood executives believed that women could not do technical stuff.
