Things have come full circle as Hollywood echoes the sentiment of “this too shall pass” as the SAG-AFTRA strikes deprive it of the joy of basking in big box office numbers as it reopens negotiations and looks forward to the upcoming releases in 2024. Among which is the big-screen debut of Freya Allan from The Witcher. But the gargantuan whipsaw from Lauren Schmidt Hissrich’s gaunt rendition of Andrzej Sapkowski’s world to the oscillating world of the box office has not proven to be much different for Freya Allan, who is up against seasoned Hollywood heavyweights in her box office debut.

One would think after the ambivalence she was subjected to with The Witcher, the actress would choose a lighter project. But Freya Allan, with her debut, is putting her strongest foot forward as she not only steps into another popular franchise but also rivals Ryan Reynolds and the league of Marvel superstars at the box office in Spring 2024.

Netflix’s Freya Allan set to give Ryan Reynolds and other MCU stars a box office run

After proving to fit just right in Sapkowski’s magical world, Freya Allan will now star in the Kingdom of the Planet of Apes. While her character is still under wraps, it is clear that the movie is as big as it gets in the science fiction realm. The first movie, War for the Planet of the Apes, easily earned $490 million and two Oscar awards. But an entire league of MCU stars in the form of Ryan Reynolds, John Krasinski, Anya Taylor Joy, Chris Hemsworth, and Chris Pratt have assembled to hinder Freya Allan’s smooth ride to the top of the box office on the 24th of May.

If you wrote down the 21st of July 2023 as a challenging day in your diary because of the simultaneous premiere of Barbie and Oppenheimer, then you are up for a surprise.

The Spring of 2024 will see the release of the post-apocalyptic action extravaganza Furiosa, the enigmatic Garfield, a fantasy comedy If, and the science fiction gospel Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes on the same day. Fortunately, Freya Allen is equipped with a strong army even outside The Witcher to help her weather the storm.

Who is the cast of the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes?

While she does not have her trusted savior Henry Cavill on this battlefield, Freya Allan is not alone in this box office war. The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is unsurprisingly strapped with a stellar cast. The first installment saw the likes of Andy Serkis, Steve Zahn, Toby Kebbell, Judy Greer, and more. But given that the movie follows Ceaser’s son, Cornelius, it enjoys a whole new cast.

The fulcrum of the movie falls on Owen Teague’s shoulder as he plays Cornelius and Freya Allan, who is likely to play Adult Nova. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will feature the two stars in the aftermath of the War for the Planet of the Apes. Not much is known about the plot, but fans are chafing at the bit for its release.
