Celebrities, as many would agree, are a cut above the rest. And this does not necessarily imply that they are better than most of their audience, but more an implication of how most of them have pretty odd hobbies. And pets. For instance, Leonardo DiCaprio keeps an African Tortoise in the same house where he keeps his Oscar trophy. Nicholas Cage loves his Albino Cobras, Moby, and Sheba, and also poses with them on the cover of magazines. And sharing a similar interest in slithering reptiles, Jason Bateman owns a gecko. While his pet seems more on the normal side, it still is not easy to catch a babysitter for it.

Bateman has a net worth estimated at $30 Million and definitely has his fair share of big bucks. However, all the gold in this world could not bring him a gecko-sitter. This unravels into the actor’s family tricking an oblivious Jimmy Kimmel into becoming a gecko-sitter.

Bateman is a proud owner of a white bulldog, which he is often spotted taking on walks around the block. He even has him as his Twitter profile picture, which in the world of dog lovers is a driving license. While his love for dogs is evident, his love for reptiles, despite owning a gecko, is not so much.

In his latest appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show, the host revealed how Bateman and his wife, Amanda Anka, tried to dump their gecko on him. What was supposed to be a onetime ‘gecko sitting’ turned out to be the Batemans giving Kimmel their gecko for free.

Kimmel tells the story of how his wife told him that they would be gecko-sitting for the Batemans. All seemed fine as Amanda Anka filled them up on the nitty-gritty of taking care of a gecko until she said, “If you guys go out of town this summer, we will be happy to look after the gecko,”. “This is where I get somewhat alarmed,” the host adds earning a laugh from Bateman.
