Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp Takes Fresh Jibes at Ryan Reynolds Co-owned Team Following Season 2 of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’
Sports is an emotion. Pretty much anyone who has ever brushed themselves with any sport knows how intensely competitive it gets in a short span of time. Furthermore, things get even more heated up when it comes to football. Ominous stares and pushes, headbutts, and intense tension often make their way into a game. Regardless, they all fall into the game’s boundaries and are done and dusted away with the final whistle. However, with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McEllheney’s Wrexham AFC, one player is yet to toast along.
Sheffield United’s key player, Billy Sharp still has a bone to pick with the Welsh team. As they soar into the global spotlight with their documentaries, the striker fired a fresh one at them.

Wrexham AFC is currently on their highest in recent times. After fifteen years of arduous wait, the Welsh team moved up one tier of the English football. Moreover, with the release of the second season of their documentary, Welcome to Wrexham, they are once again the talk of the town. Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp also seems to have taken note of it, though not as kindly. Talking to The Athletic, the prominent striker dug up his injury goal against Wrexham and ‘joked’ that they “can have a documentary” about it.
In the last season, Sharp’s goal helped Sheffield United knock Wrexham out of the FA Cup with a 3-1 win. However, in a post-match interview of the same, he had accused Wrexham players of having “a scuffle in the dressing room” as well as being “disrespectful” to his team. Additionally, he had also called shots at the Welsh team’s manager, Phil Parkinson. In his current talks, Sharp further added that he was up to managing Wrexham when “Parkinson gets the sack.”
Although he may have taken the potshots at it, there is no denying that Wrexham has seen breakout success after their Hollywood takeover. Moreover, they have also attracted ‘real to-be-managers’ as well.

Ryan Reynolds landed his first-ever Emmy thanks to the widespread acclaim of Welcome to Wrexham Season 1. Now, the second season has swooned in large swathes of fandom and aims to make Wrexham synonymous with footballing heavyweights. With the omnipresent attention on them, the Welsh team also caught the attention of Manchester United striker, Dwight Yorke, who has previously expressed a genuine interest in managing Wrexham after Phil Parkinson.
Unlike Sharp’s jibe, Yorke is whole-heartedly up to the challenge. Thus, it is triumphantly evident that the Hollywood duo has forever changed the fortunes of Wrexham AFC as well as the town. From reviving the town’s economy to US Tours for the team, the Reynolds-McElhenney takeover has raked in a fortune for Wrexham.
