In fact, they have issued some strict rules for their eldest daughter, James, this Halloween. But it is certainly not what fans have in mind and has something to do with the ongoing actor’s strike.

Variety recently rolled out a post on X, formerly, Twitter, regarding SAG-AFTRA rules for celebrating Halloween. The outlet reported that the union has released instructions for its members to show solidarity with the protest during this festival. It suggested people to “dress up as characters from non-struck content, like an animated TV show” in place of the latest blockbuster movies like Barbie. Seeing this post, Ryan Reynolds instantly jumped into the conversation and replied to the post.

He mentioned his eight-year-old daughter, James, saying he will be “screaming” at her if she does not follow the guidelines. “She’s not in the union but she needs to learn,” joked the 46-year-old. Alongside their firstborn, the couple has Inez, 6, Betty, 4, and a baby whose details remain undisclosed. This post has come almost two months after the beloved pair donated $1 million to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, which provides emergency financial support to actors on strike.

While Reynolds may have pledged to call his daughter out if she does not follow the SAG-AFTRA guidelines, he has gone to even greater lengths to say that he will not let her be a part of the industry.

The millionaire actor wants his kids to live a normal life 

In a 2015 interview with Today’s Willie Geist, Ryan Reynolds admitted he was worried about his daughter James, who wants to become an actress. “You worry about really stupid stuff. And you sorta sit there and go, ‘Oh gosh, is she gonna wanna do this?” added the Wrexham co-owner. The actor continued that he even tried to change her mind, whispering things in her ear to take normal jobs. He wants her to be anything “flight attendant” or “barista” but only normal stuff.

According to him, this profession brings many challenges and being a father, he would not like to see his kids go through all that. However, he would still support whatever they choose when they grow up. As of now, he only wants them to learn new things and be happy because he does not support child abuse. For him, kids entering show business ruin their childhood and innocence with all the attention and pressure on their fragile minds.
