Ryan Reynolds Wrexham AFC Has Now Outpaced the Saudi Soccer League in Terms of Spectators
The news of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney buying Wrexham AFC caused shockwaves throughout the Welsh border. Many speculated if the move was a publicity stunt and an attempt to elevate their public persona in the United Kingdom. However, the stars proved their passion for bringing the Welsh football club back to the game. Despite having a history of over a century, Wrexham never maintained a strong performance streak on the field.
However, things began to turn in the Red Dragons’ favor ever since the Hollywood duo stepped up to the plate. Wrexham has not only been giving tough competition to its opponents but also surpassed a star-studded league in terms of spectator base.

The Saudi Pro League has been investing a lot in attracting top European players to its team, including Christiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. The motivation behind the club’s steps toward privatization is to appear as the most lucrative team in the world. However, despite spending so much, the team failed to garner enough revenue and attendance numbers. As per Bloomberg Law, Wrexham AFC drew in a much larger audience than the Saudi Soccer League.
The website also suggested that the Saudi club has not been able to attract more than 8,500 spectators per match. While the numbers suggested a positive growth, it was still less than the average of Wrexham’s Racecourse ground. Reynolds and McElhenney’s team received a whopping 40000 spectators in the English Premier League. After 15 years of exile, the Hollywood partnership brought positive results to the team, making it shine at the fifth tier of British Soccer.
The stars recorded this entire journey in the documentary Welcome to Wrexham. The Red Dragons defender, who ditched Saudi Soccer Club for Wrexham, recently touched down on the documentary.
