In 2018, the return of Ryan Reynolds as the wisecracking mutant in Deadpool 2 brought along the debut of the live-screen X-Force. After a grueling round of auditions, the character teamed up with his band of superstars, who quite literally wiped themselves out within minutes of landing. In his latest post on X, formerly Twitter, the 47-year-old actor wrote, “Happy New Year to everyone. Except maybe Shatterstar.” A fun allude to the past iteration ahead of the third may just as well mark the birth of new fan theories.

Laden with boons such as superhuman strength and healing, Shatterstar, played by Lewis Tan, faced one of the grisliest deaths in the movie. Chopping himself to helicopter blades and spreading his green blood goo everywhere, his death came as a rude shock and dismay to in-character Deadpool. The playful callback from the actor, however, is likely only to direct fans’ attention to Deadpool 3.

The entirety of the cast from previous Deadpool movies stands confirmed to return. Moreover, director, Shawn Levy has also hinted at the possibility of the original X-Men cast reprising their roles. Finally, the current slate of the movie has a gigantic assortment of the cast as well as a storyline lined up ahead. Alongside the Marvel multiverse, there lies no limits to creative freedom.

In the meantime, a few key changes highlighted the upcoming spectacle as its release date received a postponement. As of now, Deadpool 3 stands set for a July 26, 2024 release, coming across as the most anticipated movie of 2024.
