Ryan Reynolds Wanted to “throw up” When He Heard This About Wrexham AFC
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s journey with Wrexham AFC reads more like a Hollywood script than a sports tale. When the actors embarked on the unexpected odyssey with the Welsh club, it came as a curious twist in their illustrious careers. As their beloved team climbs through the ranking charts now, both the men from Hollywood are enjoying the fruits of their labor. Now, they are much more confident in Wrexham’s abilities than they were at the start.
One thing, however, about the club that still makes Reynolds queasy was revealed recently.

During the ongoing second season of the FX series: Welcome to Wrexham, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney discussed the financial effects of owning Wrexham AFC. When the Deadpool actor asked about the same to Shaun Harvey, who serves as the advisor to Wrexham’s board, he was taken by surprise. This was because Harvey estimated the number to be around $12 million. This led Reynolds to exclaim that he was “going to go throw up.“
Although the Free Guy actor’s many business ventures are pulling in plenty of financial success for him, he was still quite shocked to hear the staggering amount in the episode. Even the club’s co-owner, McElhenney, confessed to having lost “loads” of “money” in the process. Well, it is equally possible that Reynolds’ response could be written off as a typical quip from the witty father of four.
After all, his witty jokes are what he is most known for. Recently, he and his co-owner teamed up to deliver some hilarious banter.

As Wrexham’s most prominent adversaries, Notts County gave Reynolds and McElhenney a run for their money during their last season’s title-winning campaign. Particularly because of the Magpies’ star striker: Macaulay Langstaff. So, in a recent episode, Wrexham’s owners took on the player in a snarky session. While McElhenney jokingly told him to “f*ck off”, the 47-year-old suggested he should feature in Netflix’s Peaky Blinders.
According to Reynolds, Macaulay Langstaff was “handsome” enough to pull it off. Besides injecting newfound dreams into the historic Welsh institution, Wrexham AFC’s owners bring their enthusiasm and banter with them to the table. Sometimes they get a taste of their own medicine too. In most episodes of Welcome to Wrexham, such pranks on their team and others are a common occurrence.
