Movie-making is one risky business. Millions of dollars in investment, an ensemble of creatives, months of production, and all of that hard work stand spoiled by one dreaded word: leak. A dedicated effort to curate scenes to be showcased as a trailer gets spoiled in an instant, thanks to an unwarranted image that revealed more than what the creators wanted. While recently, GTA VI acknowledged more than 10 years of fans’ excitement by releasing its trailer moments after a widespread leak, Ryan Reynolds does not want Deadpool 3 to go down that road.

Helming one of the most anticipated comic book movies of recent years, the Canadian star finally found his ploy of passive combat working.

“Deadpool began with a leak.” The first line from one of the 47-year-old’s recent posts acknowledged the beginnings of his character. A test footage showcasing Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool went viral way back in the 2010s. The positive fan reactions gave Fox the confidence to launch him as its Merc-with-a-Mouth in 2016. However, his upcoming MCU outing’s hidden secrets for a trailer are under attack of rampant leaks. To prevent this barrage, the actor recently shared a message asking pages to refrain from posting potential leaks. Now, following one’s compliance, he reciprocated gratitude.

The onslaught of leaks remained a major hindrance for Deadpool 3. As revealed by Reynolds, the movie focused on practical effects and physical locations instead of green screens, hence the outdoor locations and, in turn, the leaks. Interestingly, taking to a genius ploy, the witty wisecracker released a ton of spoofed images.

In the meantime, several developments from other Marvel shows and statements by the movie’s director may already hint at the forthcoming trajectory.

The first-ever R-rated MCU flick carries a lot of weight on its shoulders 

Officially coming from Marvel Studios itself, Deadpool 3 would maintain the characteristic R-rated violence and humor from the previous two iterations. The movie would also be MCU canon and tie several existing projects to the many branches of the Fox X-Men timeline. Thanks to Shawn Levy hinting at the possible appearance of the original X-Men, the presence of stalwarts such as Patrick Stewart comes without an iota of doubt.

It would be interesting to see how the movie ties itself to the main MCU characters. Following Loki season two, the leading theory is the TVA tying Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman directly to Avengers: Secret Wars. While, on the ground, the presence of strongholds such as Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange may help link a magic bridge. Regardless, fans remain buckled in for one riveting experience.
