Ryan Reynolds Is Bringing More of ‘X-Men’ Trilogy to ‘Deadpool 3’ Than Just the Characters
With a talented ensemble cast, an awarded director, and the resurgence of a retired X-Men, Deadpool 3 is beginning to look a lot like Greta Gerwig’s Barbie in the superhero universe. Ever since Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman casually announced the path-changing movie in September 2022, the team has been very unforgiving with updates. But those that have escaped are a clear hint that Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy are cooking up an extravaganza beyond the Deadpool-verse.
Deadpool 3 marks one of the first Fox Studios movies to witness the green light at Marvel since Disney’s accumulation of Fox. But it seems Reynolds and Levy are firm believers in Shakespeare’s ‘What’s in a name?’ as they go beyond the Deadpool-verse and into the original X-Men trilogy.

It is true that the movie will serve as a bridge for Deadpool and Wolverine, former Fox studio mutants, to march into Marvel. But is that all there is to it? Is Shawn Levy- the mastermind who intertwined the realms of reality and gaming in Free Guy and Ryan Reynolds who got Brad Pitt to play a Vanisher for two minutes in Deadpool 2 really just using only Wolverine from the X-Men original? Fans, along with their trusted leak aggregator, ‘CanWeGetSomeToast?’ do not think so. “Part of Deadpool 3 will take place in the original X-Men trilogy’s timeline,” as per CanWeGetSomeToast.
The scoop about Deadpool 3 delving into the original X-Men timeline is apropos for various reasons. Not only is it on par with Wade Wilson but also the comic-inspired costumes of the mutants. To further back it up is Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy’s previous venture beyond the present with The Adam Project.
This rumor goes beyond suiting the maker’s style as it sets the foundation stones for the continuity of X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But to deliver this spectacle pact crossover, Ryan Reynolds has to do much more than just defy time: make sense of the X-Men timeline.

The very first Deadpool movie was released in 2016 and it is clear through Wilson’s pop-centric humor and shooting of Ryan Reynolds before he does Green Lantern, that it is set in the present. This is quite contrary to X-Men‘s confusing timeline. The X-Men franchise followed a pretty basic timeline up until 2013. It was through the 2014 movie X-Men: Days of Future Past that things get a tad bit difficult to mark on the calendar. They went back to the 70s but created an entirely new timeline.
The best bet is that Deadpool 3 is set in the new timeline created by Wolverine in Days of Future Past. In any case, this is not the first time Ryan Reynolds has dipped his hand into the original X-Men timeline. The first time resulted in a short Vanisher cameo. Who knows if the second time will bring out the original X-Men cast?
