Ryan Reynolds ‘Deadpool’ 3 Welcomed Channing Tatum’s Stunt Double Into Its Ensemble
Ryan Reynolds is leaving no stone unturned to make his upcoming Deadpool 3 a massive cinematic success. From persuading Hugh Jackman to bringing Channing Tatum back, Reynolds is adamant about making the upcoming Deadpool installment a star-studded masterpiece. Channing was at one point heartbroken after his X-Men spinoff came to an abrupt halt, owing to Disney’s acquisition of Fox. And now, seven years after his debut in the MCU, the actor is set to reprise his role as Gambit in Shawn Levy’s mega X-Men crossover.
However, he is not entering the cinematic universe alone. Along with him enters his stunt double, who has also been a part of Marvel’s rival, DCU.

The Deadpool 3 cast share a close rapport with all their stunt doubles. The Free Guy actor taking his double Alex Kyshkovych at the FA Club Final and Jackman giving a thank you note to his stuntman is a testimony to their bond. So it is no surprise that IMDB added another name to its cast and crew list, Joel Adrian. The new addition will play the stunt double of the 21 Jump Street actor. Adrian has an impressive resume of working in hugely successful movies including, The Matrix Resurrections, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and The Batman.
This Fudan University graduate has been working as a stuntman and lead stunt double for over 10 years. The 46-year-old mostly works in movies and shows filmed in London and has also been a part of Henry Cavill’s The Witcher, as an action choreographer. Apart from that, this is not the first time the professional stuntman will be working in the MCU. He has also worked as a stunt double in the 2019 movie, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Considering Adrian’s experience, it is safe to say that he will bring an added flair to Tatum’s action sequences.
However, the life of stunt doubles in movies is not always delightful. During a 2022 interview, Jackman’s stunt double revealed some shocking details about their job.

Daniel Stevens, who has been a longtime double of the Logan actor and is also a part of the third Deadpool installment, got candid in a 2022 interview with The US Sun. He talked about an unsaid rule on sets that the doubles follow during the filming of violent scenes. The Australian native said that they are not supposed to make physical contact with any of the actors while shooting action sequences. Sharing an incident, Stevens recalled the time when he shot a scene with John C. Reilly for the movie Kong: Skull Island.
Despite getting injured by Reilly, he had to apologize to the actor and took complete responsibility for the accident. He went on to say that it is imperative that the stuntmen “downplay it and make the actor feel good”. Even though Reilly showed his concern for Stevens, he still stuck to saying, “Ohh sorry. My bad.. I’m completely fine”. However, he admitted that Logan was his favorite movie to work in alongside Jackman. Stevens also shared how he had all the Wolverine posters up on his wall, along with a signed thank-you note from the actor himself.
