In an interview from the Toronto International Film Festival 2023 posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, Shawn Levy spoke to Deadline Hollywood about Deadpool 3. He explained that they were only “halfway through filming” when the SAG-AFTRA strikes occurred. According to him, a “fair and equitable deal” must be made if the movie is to resume shooting. Until then, the movie has been “paused.”
Considering that Deadpool 3 is supposed to have a runtime of over 3 hours, halfway done could mean that the makers still have another 1.5 hours to account for. Unfortunately for fans, until the tensions among Hollywood’s stakeholders survive, the wait shall extend.
On the other hand, one aspect of the movie that Shawn Levy revealed made Deadpool 3 even more enticing. Apparently, the two main stars of the movie have delivered perfectly when it comes to this.

Amidst Levy’s comments about the movie’s delays was also some happier news. His description of the chemistry between Deadpool and Wolverine was surely a delight to hear. For him, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s partnership in portraying both of their “most iconic characters” has proven to be as “relentlessly awesome” as everyone was hoping it to be.
As the man who made this possible, Shawn Levy is also the frontrunner for directing Marvel’s upcoming Avengers: Secret Wars. Until then, fans hope that Levy will be able to resume his work on Deadpool 3 soon and bring relief to their starving hearts.
