When Ryan Reynolds had freshly entered the league of football club owners, he had stated on various occasions that although he was new to the field, there was no realm that was beyond the art of storytelling. For veterans of football, whose years had turned into decades, while shedding blood, sweat, and tears to push their respective teams to the pinnacle, this ideology was not all that appealing. However, as Wrexham AFC impressed everyone as they moved from the National League to the English Football League.

While Reynolds and McElhenney have been busy as it is with the Red Dragons and the Welcome to Wrexham Season 2, it did not stop them from making other meaningful investments in sports. Their most recent being the Alpine F1 Team, which has surprisingly already started showing improvements.

The Wrexham owners invested in Alpine in June this year, fresh off their successful season on the football fields. While many netizens extended to them a word of advice somewhere along the lines of “beginner’s luck does not work twice,” the kingmakers were not discouraged and believed in the team. And as Alpine recorded “an operating profit of £36.6 Million,” in 2022, according to MotorSport, the audiences are beginning to see the potential as well.

The leap in profit even before the investors jumped in to support them was due to the team acquiring fourth place in the world championship. While the exact amount of money earned with this win is unclear, estimates suggest that it be around tens of millions. Apart from the win, Alpine also secured a title sponsor in BWT, which translated to an increased operating profit.

Alpine has recently released the records of the profits it had made last year owing to a championship win and a sponsor. However, the commendable jump in profits does not directly connect to the team’s success on the track. More importantly, it does not mean that Alpine is at its finest. Therefore, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElehenney can prove to be more than useful for the F1 team owing to their experience with Wrexham AFC, that also had a similar past.

The owners seem to be aware of the team’s standing and have reportedly begun making drastic changes. However, unlike Wrexham AFC, Alpine is yet to bring a town together or mark a significant milestone on the track. Whether the Hollywood pioneers turned investors will be making a docuseries on the changes, they make to the team is also still unclear.
