Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney Mention Lionel Messi in a New Sponsorship Ad Ahead of Wrexham Matches
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are perhaps the most entertaining football team owners. Their Wrexham team is achieving new heights of glory with their support, all while making it look fun and smooth. It is also perhaps this charm of theirs that helped fans reconnect to their team, and bag sponsorships of brands for different purposes. The development of this measure in such a small time reminds one why the comedian’s approach to things works well.
Their non-league team got promoted after a jaw-dropping win against Boreham Wood on their Racecourse home ground. The promotion brought a lot of new things for the brand, one of which is the friendly matches between them and the bigger team on American grounds. Its co-owners have also announced a new sponsor, in their own hilarious way.

Team sponsorship, even in the smallest ways, helps teams get a boost in big ways. Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney made an advertisement to announce their team getting travel sponsorship from insurance company Geico. The American auto insurance company has sponsored the team’s travel to the USA for their friendly matches. They began the announcement in McElhenney’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia style.
The comedian calls the actor to share the sponsorship news by showing a jersey. Seeing the red jersey, Reynolds assumes that ace player Lionel Messi will be joining the team. His friend then clarifies that the t-shirt with Gecko written on the back is actually a symbolic message of the brand backing their team for the summer tour. The company’s mascot, a lizard, appears on the screen, showing off the sponsorship.
The Wrexham team has a lot more excited about the changes and opportunities ahead.
