One fateful day in November 2020, Wrexham AFC would pass on to its Hollywood co-owners following a $2.5 million purchase. The acquisition would see Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney splurge an additional $12 million in the course of two years in transforming Wrexham into a power-packed unit. However, even so, they are not by any means, satisfied. Speaking to Football League World, English soccer manager Carlton Palmer, expects “them to invest heavily again in the January transfer window”.
Riding on the backs of stars such as Paul Mullin and Elliot Lee, the team has cracked great success. Thanks to their prolonged efforts, Wrexham entered into the EFL’s fourth tier after fifteen years. Additionally, the aforementioned players have the skills and caliber to play in a tier, one above their current level. Moreover, with Lee even attracting attention from Championship clubs, Wrexham may look to invest better and secure their place in the upper National League berths.
The recent spending will be even more justified given the wide influence and change the duo has brought over to Wrexham including a celebrity influx.

The Hollywood co-owners registered another win for themselves by nearly settling on an acquisition deal for the STōK Cae Ras or the Racecourse Ground. Furthermore, with the team’s recent wins in tournaments, the local economy has seen a booming uptick. The quaint town, which was on the verge of oblivion, shot into the global spotlight. All of it led to the revival of centuries-old businesses while birthing several new ones.
The presence of the Deadpool 3 actor has seen an influx of celebrities. Hugh Jackman, Paul Rudd, and Will Ferrell, among others, have become frequenters. Additionally, the media coverage it brings along only bodes well for the local community. It is safe to assume that the co-owners turned into real-life superheroes with their bet on Wrexham.
