Sydney Sweeney finally wrapped up the shoot of her highly anticipated rom-com Anyone But You last month. The actress was shooting for it for quite a while in Australia. And now that it is finally over, she can concentrate on the other projects she has signed. One of them is the long-awaited remake of the 1968 sci-fi adventure film Barbarella.

Last year, in October, Sweeney officially announced that she would be partnering with Sony Pictures for this remake. Surprisingly, she is not just acting in the film but will also be sharing the production costs under her production house, Fifty-Fifty Films. The actress is quite excited about it, and this project once again came into the discussion when she interviewed for her upcoming film Reality.

When Sydney Sweeney appeared for the premiere of the film in New York, Access questioned her about bringing back the iconic costumes of 1968’s Barbarella. In reply to it, Sweeney said, “Of course, we’re gonna bring back iconic outfits. How can you not? It’s Barbarella.” However, she added to it that the film is still in the early stages of its pre-production, so she is very excited to go into the deeper stages.

Sweeney is very popular for the preparations she makes to get into the skin of a character. So when it comes to Barbarella, it is expected that the 25-year-old will approach the original actress who played the role of this sexy astronaut, aka Jane Fonda. However, the Euphoria actress said that she has not yet approached Fonda as the film is still in the early stages.

The 85-year-old actress played this R-rated superhero in 1968 and received quite an appreciation for her role. While Sweeney has not yet approached her, Fonda has shown her concerns about the remake. She is afraid that the remake will not turn out to be as iconic as the original one.
