“With great power comes great irresponsibility.” The wise-cracking, sarcastic, and Marvel’s Merc-with-a-Mouth, Deadpool, could not have found a more suited on-screen actor than Ryan Reynolds. Created as a supervillain by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, the character rose to prominence as an anti-hero in the 2016 Fox movie. As a character in the comics, it has one long history and thus, more variety for Marvel Studios to explore in the upcoming Deadpool 3. Now that the Marvel multiverse is wide open, cameos and comic teases are just about to get a whole lot juicer.

Alongside Dogpool, confirmed to land alongside the Canadian charmer, here are a few other variants from the comics that can leave even our familiar anti-hero gasping for breath.

1. Deadpool 2099 – The future

It is hard for anyone to not have come across the recent Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse by Sony. A truly well-oiled and fan-revered Spidey flick, the movie introduced Oscar Isaac’s Spiderman 2099 as one of the ultimate versions of the character in the multiverse. Likewise, countering Wade Wilson’s Deadpool is her daughter, Warda Wilson aka Deadpool 2099. After going about his days, the main universe variant would go on to marry and desert one Shiklah, Warda’s mother.

Harboring revenge and a dark ambition to make her father pay, the character goes about hunting for him across the timelines. A stark reminder of what lies in fate for the Reynolds’ helmed iteration in the distant MCU, her distaste for her father never wanes. Taking to a life of destruction, she stands eventually grounded and imprisoned by Earth-2099’s X-Men for decades before joining them.

2. Venompool – The evil

Once again, linking Spiderman and Deadpool from the comics, this version of the character is just outright carnage. Longtime fans would be well aware of the symbiote Venom’s power to manifest its host to its whims as it did to Toby Maguire’s Spider-Man from the Sam Raimi movies. Venompool hails from Earth-90211 and is a Champion in the Contest of Champions in the Battlerealm. Helming a never-satiated hunger, the character is always on the lookout for a rampage.

Holding klyntar buff to his aid, the character stands supercharged and is no match for the MCU version of the same. It can effortlessly tear and shred some of the most powerful sets of heroes, including the Avengers, thanks to its abilities such as venom-laced webbing alongside an enhanced regeneration and healing factor. Moreover, the character is strong enough to withstand shears and tears from Wolverine like they were mere itches. A fierce champion indeed.

3. Dreadpool – The insane

Ryan Reynolds’ recent tease of an adorable Dogpool in the real world is one of the things that Dreadpool would not stand to acknowledge. The character is essentially a non-stop killing machine and exists for the sole purpose of destruction. Helming from Earth-12101, he is Wade Wilson, except that instead of a wise-cracking gem, he is a moody assassin filled with existential crisis to the very brim. Featured in the comics, Deadpool Killogy, Dreadpool is the darkest version of the Merc-with-a-Mouth to ever exist.

Driven to madness by his heightened sense of fourth-wall-breaking abilities, the character wipes off every single thing across every reality. Breaking free into the multiverse, he chops down every single one of the Avengers, Thanos, Cable, Kang, and literally any and everyone, including fictional characters such as Moby Dick! A force to be reckoned with, Dreadpool is a prime example of what would happen if one were to level up in consciousness.

4. Wolverinepool – The joke

Set photos from Deadpool 3 teased Wolverine in all his comic-accurate glory for the first time on screen. However, in one version of the comics, Hugh Jackman’s character was none but Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool himself. Wade Wilson, from Earth-1946, was a mercenary and the same wise-cracker as the main timeline variant. Except that he worked for Weapon X and featured in the comics as a mockery of Wolverine.

After being administered adamantium into his skull, a sarcastic Wolverine with claws came out. Wolverinepool had all the powers of Wolverine minus his costume resemblance. The character dressed in the trademark red and black colors carried guns, wore boots, and fell recruited by Dreadpool to hunt down other variants. An appearance in Deadpool 3 would certainly serve as a head-scratcher to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.

5. Deadpool Dinosaur – The past

If someone thought there was a limit to imagination, this character would prove them wrong. As a member of the Evil Deadpool Corps, the Dinosaur variant is again a staunch enemy of the main universe variant. A T-Rex and Deadpool hybrid, the character holds all the regenerative abilities of Wade Wilson and can even communicate his vengeance for the same. An alternate universe version born out of illegal experiments, his purpose in the movie could be a fun callback to the Jurassic Park series.

The Jurassic age character also wears a mask half-covering its face while also sporting a saddle. Moreover, it also carries a machine gun on itself and stands itching to go on a widespread mauling. A stuff of pure imagination, it would certainly be a lot more fun to witness it all unfold in the theaters.
