Mere Days Before ‘Priscilla’ Release, Jacob Elordi’s Elvis Presley Confession Has the Internet Wheezing
Lilo and Stitch’s recognition within the animated world remains unmatched. If you need assurance, the 90’s kids can vouch for it. People loved the characters for their humor and their affection towards The King of Rock and Roll. As a result, this inspiration sparked a zeal of pop-cultural phenomenon within the younger generation. Although such a theory might look over-ambitious, Jacob Elordi’s acknowledgment of something akin to it has turned it into more of a millennial moment.
Only last month Priscilla received an 8-minute ovation at its premiere at the 80th Venice Film Festival. Starring Jacob Elordi as Elvis Presley and Cailee Spaeny in the titular role, the film is one of the anticipated releases, with the two actors earning much praise. However, Elordi wasn’t quite confident about his role. In a recent interview with The Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon, the Euphoria star admitted that “The most I knew about Elvis Presley was in Lilo & Stitch… which is a lot!”.

He disclosed how the opportunity was “a little bit terrifying” for him. The likely reason for the same could be that the 26-year-old actor wasn’t particularly the most dedicated Elvis fan when growing up. He additionally revealed that when Sophia Coppola had initially sent him the lines from Elvis’s role, he had made up his mind that there was “no chance this is happening.”
Nonetheless, there is every chance that this is actually happening and the movie will reach the audience in November. But his reliance on Lilo & Stitch as his sole source of knowledge about Elvis raises questions if the star had actually missed out on the internet’s comparisons to Austin Butler’s Oscar-nominated biopic on Presley.
Elordi’s revelations have elicited a variety of reactions from the fans
The Deep Water actor has likely found the right shoes even amidst his skepticism because fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) are now all in praise for him. Regardless of the confessions about possibly being unfit for the role, fans applauded The Kissing Booth actor for his transparency and authenticity. Needless to say, X is now going through a ‘relatable’ moment.
But even then, what is Twitterati without a little banter? When some fans were busy getting comfortable with childhood throwbacks, others took it to heart. But even amidst the seriousness, some others took time to ponder upon quick jokes, while others found his remark too funny.
