MCU’s Zeus Russel Crowe Reveals the Real Reason He Played His Part in DC’s Iconic Superman Movie in 2013
Saying no to playing a character is comparatively easy than saying yes to it. Why? Because the actor then has to justify the character to the best of their ability. They have to do everything to bring life to the character. Therefore, when Russell Crowe talks about why he said yes to playing the character of Jor-El, the father of Superman, he included some personal reasons and beliefs.
Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel gave a lot of fame to the English actor, Henry Cavill who played the superhero character. However, fans not only loved Cavill but also his biological father, Jor-El. Russell Crowe,now known for playing the Greek god, Zeus, in MCU, portrayed the character of Superman’s father. While fans could not stop praising the acting of the actor, he revealed the real reason behind choosing the character. In his interview with Josh Horowitz, Crowe revealed he idolized this DC American superhero. Horowitz asked him what made Crowe choose the character, and he gave the most surprising answer ever.

As he continued his previous conversation, Crowe said he chose a character only if it got under his skin. When he got the offer to play Jor-El in Man of Steel, he admittedly did not fully understand his part in it. He had to go back and forth to the script and reread it again and again. Until he understood what the filmmakers wanted him to do. “For me personally, you know, it was kind of stepping into the shoes of one of my greatest heroes,” revealed A Beautiful Mind star.
Unfortunately, following the reboot of the DCU by the new bosses, James Gunn axed Man of Steel 2. However, he announced he would tell the story of Superman in a different direction. So, what is the future of the Kryptonian in the DCU?

Because James Gunn revealed Henry Cavill would not come back to his famous role of Superman, fans were concerned about the future of the hero. But Gunn soon revealed he was writing a script for another Superman story titled Superman Legacy.
The film will mark the beginning of the DCU. Because it will show the young man of steel, the actor who would portray the character should also be younger. While there are no official announcements of the next Kryptonian, a former Superman expressed his interest to come back.
