MCU Film ‘Logan’s Creator, James Mangold, Now, Wants to Contribute to James Gunn’s DC Universe With a Specific Genre
Starting from the year 1995, James Mangold has created many remarkable works. Logan, The Wolverine, Cop Land, and many more are his famous creations. The American writer, director, and filmmaker has even earned Academy nominations twice, along with winning many prestigious awards. Now, this brilliant artist wants to contribute to James Gunn’s DC Universe as well.
James Gunn and Peter Safran recently took over the DCU and are directing it to a new path. While Gunn has his own vision to redirect the DC Universe, the 59-year-old artist wants to make his contribution as well. During Mangold’s conversation with Josh Horowitz on the podcast named Happy Sad Confused, the Logan director expressed his wish to work with James Gunn. Josh Horowitz brought in Swamp Thing and asked the director about it.

The Indiana Jones‘ fifth installment writer-director admitted he was a big Swamp Thing fan. He even admitted he had contacted The Guardians of the Galaxy director as soon as he took over the DCU with Peter Safran. Mangold revealed as a fan of DC’s powerful character, he knew he had to make something about it. Therefore, the American director just picked up his phone to call James Gunn and expressed his wish to contribute to his vision for the DCU.
The Academy-nominated director is now associated with the creation of Swamp Thing. He would give voice to his gothic and horrific-themed ideas for the DC character in the movie. Although DC already has its fair share of gothic projections, it is never enough when it comes to fans’ appetite for it, right?
While the renowned director is moving ahead in his career by stepping into the DCU, he once expressed his protective feelings for Wolverine.

As the creator of this stunning MCU film, Logan, Mangold actually did not want anyone to touch Wolverine. When he heard about Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3 will bring back the iconic X-Men character, Mangold wanted it to be left alone.
However, it is also true the Australian actor took permission before reprising the role because Logan dies in the last installment of Wolverine’s story. Therefore, it was obvious even for fans to be worried about the mess of the plot. But, The Son actor confirmed they would not mess up the end of the film, Logan. And thus, they got the blessings of the Logan creator. Well, Deadpool 3 will hit theaters on the 3rd of May 2024.
