Matthew Vaughn Regrets Not Having Actors Besides Him For ‘Argylle’ Promotions, As SAG Strike Continues Against The Studios
Matthew Vaughn, known for mastering the art of the superhero fantasy genre in his directorial pursuits, is already a living legend. Vaughn’s experiments with comic book adaptations have made him a director to reckon with. And now, the X-Men director is in the news again for his latest Argylle. With a star-packed ensemble with Henry Cavill as the lead, the anticipation surrounding the movie is already high.
While Argylle is set to see the light in 2024, other projects are waiting for the strike to reach its conclusion. Addressing the same, the 52-year-old British director shared in a recent interview how the strike is affecting the promotions of his upcoming flick.

Vaughn recently appeared on the Happy Sad Confused Podcast and commented on the absence of actors in promoting Argylle. Talking, Horowitz pointed out how Vaughn must be the most “resentful” person who is unable to take his star-studded cast for the promotions. While the director agreed, “it’s frustrating,” he was quick to point out how the “Strikes got bigger problems” than him. However, he is all set to hide behind his cast once the strike is over.
Vaughn also mentioned his desire to direct Man Of Steel, which Zack Snyder eventually directed. While he could not direct it, he did get to work with Henry Cavill in the movie. Praising Cavill, Vaughn said, “He’s so good in the film and lovely to work with.”Praises like these are not new for the Superman actor, who was extremely loved by his The Witcher cast as well.
On one hand, Vaughn is hopeful to have a bombastic promotion along with his star-studded cast when the strikes are over. On the other hand, the SAG union is aiming to do its best to reach a conclusion in every way possible.

While the WGA strike concluded on September 27, the SAG-AFTRA is yet to see the sunshine. Weeks back, the SAG-AFTRA union sang ‘The Point of No Return’ outside Netflix and Disney studios to show their disappointment. The studios and union negotiated for two weeks to put an end to the strike, but the negotiations failed. Studio representatives said, ” the gap between the AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA is too great.”
If this was not enough, the union recently shared an advisory as to how members should celebrate Halloween. The union asked the members to “stay in solidarity” with the strike while celebrating Halloween by discouraging wearing movie or show costumes. Rather, they advised going for costumes inspired by ghosts, spiders, and zombies. However, many like Ryan Reynolds did not agree with it and took a jab at the same.
