The DC Studios boss took to social media to announce his directorial debut in the new slate of DC movies. His Superman: Legacy is set to release two years from this day, which points towards a release date of July 11, 2025. The movie will follow a younger version of Clark Kent and will deal with Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. Gunn had earlier revealed that he has found a way to bring forward a narrative that he feels is unique, fun, and emotional.

The Suicide Squad director had stated earlier that he has already turned in his first draft for Superman: Legacy mere days before the writers’ strike kicked off. As such, the strike is not to interfere with the timetable. Last month, the preproduction of the movie began, and they expect to start principal photography around February 2024. The only catch is that Gunn cannot make any changes to the script until the strike is over. However, the DC Studios’ new lead is confident that he has covered enough to begin production of the movie.
